Monarch Caterpillar in 'J' formation

Shadow Play

I've collected monarch larvae to raise in my house on milkweed in mason jars.
I have 5 caterpillars in different stages - one in chrysalis, one in J (soon to be a chrysalis) one chomping and one MIA!
That one crawled off and I can't for the life of me find it.
In 10 - 12 days I'll be capturing butterflies to release outside!
Oh .. and an egg that I found on the underside of a milkweed leaf hatched today.
The tiniest little larvae, just 2/32 of an inch long!

other sizes: small medium large original auto

This is so cool. It is a wonderful thing to watch the metamorphosis and hopefully all the released butterflies will survive and thrive! Odd the MIA! V
