Propeller

Dunbar

The propeller was invented by Robert Wilson, born in 1803 in Dunbar, Scotland. This large propeller at the harbour is in his honour.
Another famous person born in Dunbar in 1838 is John Muir, who is better known as the founder of the Sierra Club in the USA.
He is honoured by a statue in the town's high street.
In the background is the remains of Dunbar castle which was destroyed by order of the Parliament of Scotland in December 1567.
