Perching Pelican Feet

Living in south Florida, I've taken many photos of pelicans,
but it's usually been the whole bird or just the head and its extremely long bill.

When I found this guy perched on a railing next to an inlet I decided to think outside-the-box
and discovered that his feet were actually very interesting :-)

I never knew they looked like this. It seems like it would be hard for them to perch. Great detail and isolation of the feet. V.
