The New Whilamut Passage Bridge

Opened in August 2013, the new Whilamut Passage Bridge carries Interstate-5 traffic across the Willamette River as it passes between Eugene and Springfield, OR. The bridge is actually twin spans, the west span takes southbound traffic across the river, while the east span carries northbound traffic. Work continues on artwork and other finishing touches. It's a beautiful bridge.

Excellent Vern, The people at ODoT would like this, not many reinforced concrete bridges are so graceful or well photographed.

I really like the perspective from which this was taken. I know there is no snow showing but it just looks cold!
Paul Milholland05-Feb-2014 19:52
Good choice of shooting angle to let the arches echo each other's shapes.

An excellent POV and a most interesting subject. Interesting spelling for the name of the bridge as well (I imagine the original of Willamette).

Nice perspective on this span (or these spans). For the brief period i worked for Springfield Public Schools, i'd ride under this twice each day on my bicycle commute to work and back.
