At the Hole In The Wall!
Carol and I traveled to the Hole in The Wall today to have lunch with Marty and John. It was quite a trip, all of three blocks! The spot is actually a restaurant, an attractive one at that! Excellent food and good company made for an enjoyable time. The place is well named, as this photo of Carol with Marty and John, at the 'Hole in the Wall' inside the restaurant, shows!

The New Whilamut Passage Bridge
Opened in August 2013, the new Whilamut Passage Bridge carries Interstate-5 traffic across the Willamette River as it passes between Eugene and Springfield, OR. The bridge is actually twin spans, the west span takes southbound traffic across the river, while the east span carries northbound traffic. Work continues on artwork and other finishing touches. It's a beautiful bridge.

Walking the Pre Trail
I had a nice walk on the Pre Trail this morning before the sun disappeared and clouds again covered the sky. You can see the dark clouds approaching in the west in this scene. The sun brought out the nice colors, which I thought looked good against that background. The Pre Trail is the main running path through Alton Baker Park.

Song of the Redwing Blackbird
This redwing blackbird was singing its heart out at Delta Ponds. Must be that time of year when they are wooing. Try this to hear the song of the redwing blackbird (I hope it works) -

Upside Down!
This is one of two office buildings at Valley River Center that look like they are upside down.
Valley River Center is Eugene's major shopping center. According to Wikipedia -
"Valley River Center is a super-regional-class shopping mall located in Eugene, Oregon, U.S. It is the largest shopping center between Portland and San Francisco with over 130 local and national stores and restaurants. Located on the banks of the Willamette River, the mall is easily accessible by bike and walking paths. Also located near the mall is the Valley River Inn."

Photographic Beginnings
Over the years I have built up a collection of books. Some of them take me back to my photographic beginnings. One never outgrows the need to review and keep fresh the very basics. These are a few of the books that are basic but still fun to review. With them is my first camera. Yes, I still have it.

Hooded Merganser Couple
I saw this beautiful Hooded Merganser couple at Alton Baker Park. They are back in the area, at least for the time being.

Burger King
Everything looks more inviting in early morning light. Doesn't this Burger King look nice? I just had to stop in for a breakfast burrito. It tasted good. But maybe everything does at that hour of the day. Then I went to get my latte! Now that WAS good!

Orbiting
Well, in a sense it is orbiting, which ever way the wind blows! This is a glass bead hanging from one of Carol's wind chimes.
I just thought it made a nice picture.

I Am Tired of Grey!
I got tired of the grey fog that we have had for weeks. So I thought a change was in order.
After taking a little liberty with it, I like this sky better! :)

Dark Eyed Junco
This pretty fellow showed up in our backyard this morning just long enough for me to get a couple shots of him through our sliding glass door. The setting was not ideal either but I thought the result was acceptable. I hope to get a better one.

Winter Growth
Something for those who may be buried in snow! Cheer Up! We are not in the 'dead' of winter! This Oregon Grape at Delta Ponds is getting berries on it already. It will be a while before they end up dark blue, like grapes. I thought it made for a pretty picture. Here's hoping for the best for everyone!
