Red Hot Poker

Tucson, AZ

Good to see this bad boy set today. Tucson will set a record for having an entire month (June) with every day at or above 100 degrees F (38C).
Will probably also set a record for the most consecutive number of days above 100 as the forecast calls for more searing heat for at least another week.

The deep red color is from high level smoke from a forest fire (Silver Fire) burning in the Gila Wilderness some 130 miles east of Tucson.
The smoke actually helped to create a thin cloud layer over our area, which kept the temperature down a bit from what was forecasted.

As David says, it is full of menace, but yet I can't take my eyes away from all those wonderful layers... V

Dramatically awesome! Love the red sky and those layers of clouds creating different shades of color. We had hazy skies here and could smell the smoke.

It seems your heat is blowing up our way, we are having temps in the high 90s and that is unheard this time of year. No thanks, I would much rather it be the 60s...
Nice image and the color is fitting for those high temps you guys are having....

Don't know how people are surviving the intense heat out west. Hopefully it will cool down soon.
