Thanks Elazar. I normally use Fred Miranda's black and white action in Photoshop. Or alternatively I use the Channels in Photoshop 7 and play with it until I get the right amount of contrast. I like quite high contrast in monochrome - shades of grey don't appeal to me.

Cheers

Incredible photo. Would you mind sharing what process you use to convert the photos to black & white? thanks.

Thanks Gary. I had become quite attached to him over the past 18 months. But he lives on in my photographs.

Gary

Today, I found out that he had died last weekend. I am so devastated. I have so many photographs of him in my library. He was an Assyrian who came here in 1999 as a refugee. He was only 61.

Thanks Gary. Sydney has a benign winter so this old chap survives OK. He, like others, is looked after by the Sydney City Mission so he has a couple of good meals a day and a bed for the night. Also, like many others, he has an alcohol problem.
Cheers

The sadness and lonelyness you've captured on this image is stunning. It really made me think how lucky I am to have a home to go back to. Amazing photo.
