If you've been around NYC long enough, you've seen him. You might not know
his name, but you know his look. You know him. The Big Man with that
really "old" camera. The guy that made you say "Ho!" when you first
saw him :-)

His name is Louis Mendes, and he is a NYC icon. For decades, this legendary
street photographer has been a fixture on the streets of NY. I've photographed
him myself numerous times over the years.

Described on his fan page as "Shaft with a camera" this cool slick cat is
never seen without his retro outfits and his trusty Speed Graphic camera.
And after getting a chance to speak with him, I've found out that he is
truly a nice, nice guy and he surely knows his gear.
