When I was a boy and later as an adult I would sometimes visit the Castle Inn. The Castle Inn is constructed of field and beach stone. It was built in 1906 on 600 acres, as the summer home of George W. and Elizabeth Jarvis Beach. Mrs. Beach was the niece of Samuel Colt, the Hartford firearms manufacturer. Later it was turned into the Castle Inn. Subsequently it was abandoned for years. It was purchased a few years ago as a summer home and restored. I believe it is now for sale. It sits up on a hill at Cornfield Point on Long Island Sound. I remember when the grounds were more extensive. Now homes and cottages surround it.
