110219_071505_15440 Lavender Sunrise (Sat 19 Feb)

College St, Sydney, NSW

Time to take the 60mm macro lens out for some outdoor work today. There is a flower garden which sits on the roof over Cook and Phillip park which served the purpose quite well. (A wide angle shot of it is in my Miscellaneous Sydney gallery (image 15496) if you feel so inclined.)

As I mentioned in the caption for that image I'll most likely put some of the other images from the shoot up when I have time, and when I can decide where to put them.

In truth I have no idea whether this is lavender, but it certainly looks the part.

I had one disturbing experience this morning; when I was shooting some deep red flowers they looked more orange on the camera's display. However loading them into Photoshop showed colours that were a lot closer to the correct ones. It can sometimes be hard to tell what you're dealing with when relying on the camera's screen alone.

Very very pretty, I love the sharpness of the first flower with the melting away effect that is so effective with this beautiful colour.

Not lavender but beautiful all the same. Great colour, lighting and DOF. Makes for a lovely summer image and one
would never guess it was taken in the heart of the city. V

What a beauty! I reckon its a native of some sort (by the leaf) & probably one that does well over on the east coast.
