The G Street Pier

The remains of San Diego's once very large Fishing Fleet can be seen at the G Street Municipal Pier.
Overfishing, Factory Ships, Quotas, Pressure from Environmental Groups, Ships transferring to other Flags, rising costs and other factors have taken their toll.
As the Pier is in a prime location downtown, it is only a matter of time until the developers get their hands on this.
Then we'll have another yacht club or marina come in with the obligatory overpriced Seafood Restaurant. Personally I prefer the fishing boats.

cool shot and reflections..the fishery is in decline as well here further up the coast..pity if the fleet eventually disappears...still the fishermen too played a role in the relentless assault on fish stocks...at times they took more than was advisable...hopefully the lessons are not being learned too late...
