Taken from the modern footpath of the Dare Valley Country Park. To the left of the terrace was the Bwllfa Colliery. Miners would have followed the route of this footpath of the other large deep mine Nant Melyn Colliery. Behind the bottom of the terrace was the Windber Drift. In the first half of the 20th century the houses would have been surrounded by spoil tips, railways and colliery buildings. The area was landscaped in the 1970s.
