Golden Gate

San Francisco, Calafornia, USA

View of the Golden Gate Bridge from Hawk Hill with San Francisco in the background and the island of Alcatraz on the left

I have always been fascinated with the Golden Gate Bridge … an iconic world landmark from 80’s programme
Streets of San Francisco and classic movies Dirty Harry, Bullet and escape from Alcatraz
So when I had to go there on business there had to be a taxi detour to a good vantage point
Thankfully the infamous bay fog did not roll in although you will notice a little bit on the right of the bridge

More of San Francisco in my gallery http://www.pbase.com/mcgarva/san_francisco

This is the one for me. Man-made grandeur on a big scale.

Got the light and the lines just right in this shot.

As others have said...this is a stunning image Tony....I particulary like the way you have used the arch of the bridge to frame the city. This scene definitely would have blown away the cobwebs of jet lag for a little while anyway!!

That's called doing as well as possible from that splendid vantage point.
Great image.
Voted emphatically!

Nice one Tony beautifully sharp and from a vantage point I have never seen before. Excuse my ignorance but why is it called the Golden Gate when it appears to be red?!!
