Nesting

Southern Vancouver Island

An active eagle nest is a rare sight and ensuring that the birds are not disturbed is of utmost
importance. A longer lens and some good lighting contributed to my being able to get this shot.
Bald Eagle facts: Normally Bald Eagles only nest in trees 75 feet or higher and they will add new
nesting material to an established nest annually. It can take a pair of eagles as long as six
weeks to build their nest for the first time. The eyrie (eagle nest) is made of sticks, lined with
twigs and green grass, and is generally considered the largest nest of any North American bird.
