Here in Central New York, Great Blue Herons have become common as dirt, but I was rightfully delighted to see this gorgeous specimen of its white morph form, the Great White Heron, at the Center. Not to be mistaken for yet another Great Egret, the Heron bears all the same distinguishing features as the Blue Heron including the thick bill and gray lores and legs, only is clothed in all white plumage. This is a wild bird who comes in for a free lunch like many of the other local seabirds and waders.
