23rd - "What's The Frequency, Kenneth?"

Cleeve Hill Common, Glos.

(Top 10 hit in 1994 for REM from their album Monster)

A classic REM pop-tune...

...and a classic photo of two of the three radio masts at the top of Cleeve Hill. These guys are a familiar landmark to all Cheltonians - they've been standing on the top of Cleeve Hill for years and can be seen for miles around, and in fact I'm sure that they're already the subject of a couple of pics in my Cotswold galleries. Their initial photogencity has worn off on me now (I've lived her for over 20 years) but it's nice every now and then to capture their steel-framed beauty. And with over a gazillion triangles between the three (I counted them...) I'd be daft not to shot them for the Challenge!

Having said all that, I must actually give full credit for this shot to Finn, it was he who saw and suggested the masts when we were up there the other day, although he didn't proffer any advice on the music :o). But bizarrely, the song was already buzzing around my head when Finn came up with the visual idea...what a partnership! Although it was a cold (for the UK) day, there was still a bit of warmth in the setting sun, which makes a nice layer at the foot of the composition

Looks like a lot of power!

Now I know what a gazillion triangles look like. Excellent choice for the challenge, these very photogenic towers. Good choice of tune too. :)

Great triangles and great song to go with it. Yeah, go with Laine's idea and decorate those!
Bernard Davis23-Dec-2009 20:24
Great set of triangles, and lots of them.
Kevin Chester23-Dec-2009 19:17
Well you couldn't get more triangles thats for certain
lisamidi23-Dec-2009 18:57
Important question: how long did it take to count the triangles?:-))
Very fine idea!

Ooh - if you go back at dusk, do they have purdy little red lights on for the hairy-planes? That'd be all Christmassy'n'stuff :o)

That touch of orange sky really adds to a mostly gray sky. Great entry for the challenge.

impressive landmarks..., they can be disturbing though...

I do not find these antennas ugly; they seem to be lace towers in the sky as can be the Eiffel Tower....Anyway they offer two beautiful triangles and many more in the structure !

LOL at Laine! Add some garland and ornaments too! Love the music Doug!

Looks cold out there, hope you wrapped up.
Have fun!

Maybe you could hang tinsel & candy canes to improve it's looks :)) Many many triangles, Doug.
