T = Tamale

The word Tamale comes from the Nahuatl (Aztec) word Tamalli. Tamales are a typical Mexican food and are especially enjoyed around Christmas.
They are made with corn meal dough and a filling and then wrapped in cornhusks and steamed.
The three Tamales in this image are filled with Pollo (Chicken), Res (Beef) and Rajas (a sauté of jalapeno chili, red onion and bell peppers).
They can also be filled with cheese, pork, beans, squash, pumpkin seeds, hardboiled eggs, dove breasts and iguana meat, to name a few.

Iguana meat? Dove breasts? Don't suppose you buy those ingredients at the local supermarket.

I've never had a Tamale :-) I can see that next year will have me sampling lots of new foods! Did you make them yourself? Well done Walter.
