5 December, 2008: The Last of the Famous Charming Lads

A great Manchester musical heritage backdrop with an altogether more contemporary subject, although he tried hard with the quiff and the NHS glasses!

No visit to Manchester is complete without a little pilgrimage to the Salford Lads Club. Made famous by a photograph by Stephen Wright, which ended up on the back cover of the Smiths album 'The Qeeen is Dead'. Sadly, no other bequiffed Smiths fans about.

Geek stuff: Fuji S5 Pro at 250ISO, lazy RAW edit in Silkypix Free Edition, 'Nostalgic Toy Camera' flavour, colour balance on sunset and a little levels twaking in PSE7.

Yup, it was great! Didn't shoot much more that day, what with commercial frenzy reigning in town etc. etc. Need to go back very soon to see City Hall interior, Whitworth Gallery, City Art Gallery, Holy Name Church and Granada Studios!

He doesn't seem the Elastoplast sort ;-)
Glad you made the pilgrimage.

Good character shot - so you didn't know him?
He does look familiar. Well done ...

Shouldn't NHS glasses have an elastoplast holding them together??
