Palm-nut Vulture

(gypohierax angolensis)
The Palm-nut Vulture is quite common in West and Central Africa. It is found in a variety of habitats often near water. As its name implies, it is particularly associated with oil palms and also rafia palms. It feeds on the nuts of the oil palms but will also scavenge for small animals and fish so it is not entirely vegetarian.
