Stripes

Tarbart Ness, Highlands, Scotland.

With clouds motoring across the velvet purple of twilight and the wind whistling past the striped column of Tarbart Ness lighthouse. Setting up to take this shot with my Pentax 6x7 proved testing especially as it then became apparent that I was likely to get soaked by horizontal stair rods of rain. I was pleased with the somewhat spooky result.

I stumbled upon your exquisite work while checking for info on or an address for Toronto and Washington DC Ian Officer Cameron who married the daughter of old friends of mine. I just can't tell you how much I have enjoyed seeing your photographic genius unfold before my eyes in this good example of unadulterated serendipity. It inspired me to dust off the old Rollei 2.8 (one of the first of the immediate post-WWII larger lens reflex cameras Rolleiflex had started to make, alongside the more popular 3.5s.) I acquired it while Aide and Flag Lieutenant to the Rear Admiral in charge US Naval Forces Germany in Heidelberg, 1953-54, during the latter days of the Occupation of Germany.
