Some of the most sumptuous and lurid after storm light i have ever come across it really was quite astonishingly vivid. I used a soft 0.45ND grad to hold detail in both lit and unlit areas at Burgheads ancient harbour.
Amazing light and composition !
Zeiss and Velvia have done miracles here !

Very symbolic, Ian, very. Boats are the true messengers of man's innocence, necessary innocence, towards or against the elements. Docked boats always have a boyish readiness. Transient light is there, yes, but together with our own frail transitoriness, very well represented by that fishing boat. I come from a place where people have always had to fight their way through the hostile ocean to earn a living. The false quietness of this photo says a lot to me. A peaceful ship will always mean beauty and shadows hanging about the place; pride and melancholy.
Bravo for your pics Ian: you're a master of both composition and light! The vision and the beyondness (please forgive that neologism).
Cheers
