Out walking with my family one winter evening over by the river Spey I found some wonderful deep frosted birch trees white with rime. For a few minutes they were backlit by intense golden sunlight and with careful shading of the lens I watched them flame gold whilst the late afternoon caused the shadowed frost bank to be rendered blue. It was dazzling fine light and the hanging birch fronds framed the trees quite beautifully.
