One Step Beyond

Duncansby Stacks, Caithness, Scotland

Although the first morning wasn't as spectacular as the second we never-the-less saw a brief parting of the skies over the little island off the extreme north east tip of mainland Britain the rays of light creating a pool of pink light that haloed the island. The stark contrast of the warm backdrop with the cool twilight blue of the churning sea was wonderfully compelling and arguably provided the most inspirational pictures of this dagger shaped rock formation.

This razor sharp stack is a good subject and the light on the distant island makes a great composition, the exposure time is very effective
