Being based in the small, almost non-existent village of Harwood, gave us plenty of scope to explore both locally (a walk to Cow Green reservoir; a trip to High Force, etc.), and further afield (e.g. Durham, Hadrian's Wall, Lindisfarne...).
Teesdale is -- as are many of the Dales -- subject to fantastic light and weather changes; and a highlight for me was the stochastically dotted white cottages (one of which, Honeypot, we stayed in...), so typical of the area....
