Curacao, the dark, other side of Paradise at 07.41 am

picture taken by Rose-Anne Callewaert, showing our national disaster, the oil refinery, situated right in the center of town, spitting out its poisonous fumes.
About 20 people die of Illnesses related to these fumes per year. The past 10 governments didn't give a shit, because about 3000 families get directly or indirect their income from this cancerous monster.
Hey,closing it down means losing the election!!!!...and all benefits that comes with being chosen to rule these 130.000 inhabitants. They call it here "the cream on the pastechi"
Last week we had the first protest march ever against the pollution of the ISLA,that is what this monster is called. Not one idiot living under the smoke of this "cancer growth" came to support this march.Only a mere 130 people, mostly the wealthier Dutch who live far away from these toxic fumes came for the march.Shame on all the stupid people of Curacao, who live right under the smoke, and like an ostrich stick their fat heads in the sand.Wait till cancer hits your ass,and your last march will be to the crematorium! Hey,they are smoking already ;-)))....and waiting for YOU !!!!
(not for me because I live outside the polluted area ;-))

Soon these bastards will have my whole neighborhood up their ass. Some time ago, they spilled catcracker dust over my neighborhood, and refused to say what substance it has.No warning, nothing. In this neighborhood we don't take their shit, and send monsters to the lab in Holland to see what it was.The refinery send a cleaning team,to clean up all gardens, houses and pools, but this is not enough. The arrogance, not to inform people and treat them like imbeciles has gone too far.We will close this fabric,if the people from Curacao can not.

Orazio la fece propria nella sostanza cambiandone la forma: "Dulce est desipere in loco (Carm., IV, 13, 28)". (È cosa dolce ammattire a tempo opportuno).

Now I understand everything ;-))
Amice, when this is only "Semel in anno" one could live with it,but not 10x/anno ;-((

I won't expect that this would be built where you are located.

There's always a dark side, my friend!!

Pirate....."mea culpa!"...mea maxima culpa !

This just because the people buy big SUV cars to drive in this small island :)))))

I like to see the oil refinery but never seen as this capture ,normally without a so large cloud of black smokes. The oil industry is terrible to create the cancers in the finance ,for the peace, for the health but it offers also the necessary motor of the modern life ...in fact it is as religion good and bad in the same time

Gary,the answer is:..."because they are stupid" !

It sickens me. How can people not care? I will never understand that.

A brave 7.41 AM wake up call but indeed the mind numbing fumes seem to silence almost all protest. Curaciconic image. Good luck!

My friend,Thank God that it all blows to the poor and settles down on the houses and villa's of the richest people living in Blue Bay ;-)) So they get equal shares !

Salaam amigo,
Long time. This is a really beautiful picture. I warms my heart. You know how I love industrial pollution. What, it isn't one of your PS creations out of nightmare. Thanks for sharing, so hard to believe it is there after all the lovely snaps you have shared.
How is all with you and family? Just thinking of old cyber friends. The best to you, and family, bro! I am still stuck in amerika with a lead restaurant weight tied around my neck. Would you like a copy of my book. Are you a reader, or too busy in your (almost) tropical paradise. Maybe I can scrape shipping together and send you a copy.

Where is the Environmental Protection Agency when you need them?

It all starts somewhere, with the first protest.
To bring the people to be aware. And for compromise.
Great pic Hodero, and story. Good luck with the fight.
