NYU expansion plans call for the destruction of this garden and the WSV Sasaki Garden, children's playgrounds and street park strips in the block north of this garden
to build several skyscrapers here in the heart of historic Greenwich Village.
Click http://www.pbase.com/hjsteed/laguardia_place_community_garden and the associated links there for more information about NYU's plan and the community's efforts
to save these gardens, children's playgrounds and park strips.
NYC Community Board 2 members and our State Assembly and Senator support the community against the NYU President Sexton's plan.
Mayor Bloomberg and other NYC officials have already stated that they approve the NYU plan, but the City Council and community response could still stop the destruction of these precious places and facilities.
We also hope that Mayor Bloomberg will reconsider his position on the current NYU plan and find suitable alternatives
where NYU's expanded facilities are wanted and needed by NYC residents.
