Mirpur District

Mirpur district comprises partly plain and partly hilly areas. Its hot climate and other geographical conditions closely resemble those of Jhelum and Gujrat, the adjoining districts of Pakistan. The people of this area are basically farmers. Since the 1960s, a large number of people from this district have gone abroad , especially to the United Kingdom and the Middle East, for economic reasons. As such they are today the major foreign exchange earning source for Azad Kashmir and Pakistan. Around 50,000 people were moved from this district in the mid-sixties to make way for the construction of Mangla Dam. Most of these people settled in new Mirpur whilst some moved to Pakistan and the UK.

lachmanpur, he used to own a black horse and he had two daughters (seeta and meeta)

I am parvinder gupta from rajouri. My grandfather kala ram gupta was a karyana shpkeeper in mirpur.He had six sons namely pran nath,raghuvansh,chanan,ram saroop,nandan,romesh and two daughters. Three of the above chanan,ram saroop,romesh are missing since partition.they might have embraced islam.this family used to live in chuga haveli near ganda nallah bridge ,mirpur.if any body can help me to get connected with any of the above mentioned missing persons or their families,i will be highly thankful.

You have done a very good job of collecting these photos. If we all work together and translate our appreciation of the area into something practical we could achieve great results. My cousin Amin went over to Azad Kashmir from the UK a few years ago and worked very hard to build a hospital for the poor near Chaksawari at Ban Damali. Al noor welfare trust and lifecareuk. org

In the last two years they have treated over 100,000 poor people. They also treated a lot of people after the earth quake. They are currently building an orphanage and school for poor children. It will be good if the area could be developed and the poor kids who work on the streets could also be given an education. That area has a lot of potential, but people need to work together if it is to develop. It will be nice if like minded people could work together to develop that area.

One thing I notices when I was in Kashmir a few months ago is how people throw away plastic bags and they are destroying the beauty of that region. I say people throwing lorry loads of plastic bags in areas around Mirpur. People need to be educated about protecting their environment. If they ever wish to develop tourism in the future, tourists do not like to visit tips.

This is a grat work. i wish to see site one of the more visited. However our AJK Govt.official site much more behind this site .Just some one need to add histry of every district.weather, temperature like small stuff.
