Joop's Dog Log - Saturday May 15

Thought I`d check out our lake today.
Lake Paterswolde covers much of the area between my town and the city of Groningen.
The boats have returned. Humans are getting ready for a summer on the water.
Humans have a thing for water. They prefer to live close to the water,
or at least have a view on the water. And they love to go boating on the water.
They`re always ready to spend their money on something with water.
Of course human bodies ARE water, for up to 60 percent.
The human brain is 70 percent water (some brains are even more watery),
blood is 82 percent water, and human lungs are nearly 90 percent water.
That must be why humans love everything about water.

Have a wonderful weekend everybody!

ahh, water. gotta love the stuff ... but why do we treat it so badly, treating it - and all that live in it - as a rubbish dump?

Thank you for your comment. I would like to say that since you live in Europe, you know the consequences of appeasement of fanatics. Your countrymen lived through world war 2 and millions died as a result. Do you want to repeat history? No one has said that Islam is the enemy. Mainstream Islam is a religion that is peaceful. Did you know that Bagdad had a 25% Jewish population before Sadamm? Muslims and Jews co-existed very happily there. (There are less than 40 Jews left in Bagdad now.) The middle east has been oppressed by dictatorship for centuries which has been exacerbated by the oil money that flows into thoses regimes. You live in a great democratic country, but others aren`t so lucky. It is amazing to me that so many are blinded by their hate of George Bush to see the greater good. You don`t seem to realize that evil really does exist and if not confronted now, will end in a conflagration like the world has never seen. And it won`t just be the US. The goals of Al-Queada are worldwide. They won`t go away by being nice to them. Europe tried to be nice to Hitler too. You saw what happened. You said that Iraq was the wrong country and suggested Saudi Arabia and other countries. Iraq was the best place to start in my opinion. They attacked their neighbors on multple occasions. Saddam was a menace don`t you agree? Saddam broke the UN resolutions, but Germany and France were too corrupted by Saddams stolen oil for food money to care about doing something about it. Iraq was the right place and the great majority of Iraquis agree. Despite what you see in the press, great progress has been made. European countries should be the first to support the attempt to democratise other countries.
By the way, beautiful shot!
Oh and I never met a dog like you with such strong political feelings. You must be a very unusual dog.

Another wonderful picture of you! My Mom had a dog that absolutely loved water, but now she just has me, and I don`t like water much at all. However, I can type... pretty good for a cat, eh? Kisses from Montana the Cat

Good evening Joop! Yes, our humans are also water-addicted, bosslady more because she was born in Hamburg and for a child there it was a duty to love everything that has to do with water, the harbour, the steamers, the North Sea, the waves..the smell of the big wide world.....we stick to our roots, no need to swim if it is not absolutely necessary...the stick-games was never ours.Maybe if they would start to trow cookies or other good things into it....and in bosslady`s little canou it isn`t really comfortable...now the holiday do really start: bosslady had another tennis team tournament and nearly 4-5 hours running and hitting in her feet...and the team won again!!!! For the rest of the evening we will be hugging together and watch the European Song Contest...the Germans have nominated a guy named Max who always keeps his eyes closed while singing..strange haircut and no glamour type, nobad voice, but he doesn`t dance, has no gogogirls on the stage..just singing...sorry, we do not know who is singing for the Dutch...see you tomorrow!

I don`t believe Bush is a puppet any more than you or I. He has been very consistent (for a politician)and has strong core beliefs. I think this makes some people uncomfortable because he is very sure of himself. I agree with you+that Pakistan ia a hotspot, but it is not black and white there or in Saudi Arabia. Both countries are, or were, complicit indirectly or directly with Al Quaeda. However, in my opinion, Since Saddam had broken the cease fire agreement (he was shooting at coalition jets, he was killed a lot of Shiites and Kurds in retribution for their opposition and the world did nothing to protect them) and the UN resolutions were neing ignored, he was definitely deserving to be removed. He WAS encouraging terrorists. He was paying the suicide bombers families $25,000 in Palestine. He secreted his weapons somewhere either in Syria or underground somewhere- the UN said there were there and they have never been accounted for. If you just want assume that he would not try to constitute his weapons as time went on and the pressure came off, you can do that. Germany rebuilt their weapons after world war one, and Europe just let that happen. Germany had sanctions too. Sanctions do not work unless the world strictly enforces them, but since the UN membership is 2/3rds dictatorships, this is not likely to happen. This is why free countries must do the heavy lifting. We need your support and participation to do this. The terrorists that are in Iraq are being defeated as we speak. We will not give up because to do so is would leave Iraquis vulnerable and the whole world at risk. Have faith and be strong and the world can be a better place. Please keep an open mind and hope for the future.

Ahoy, Cap`n Joop! I love living near the water. It makes me feel less closed-in somehow. And don`t forget we all start off kind of like fishes... -Sarah.
