Joop's Dog Log - Monday May 10

Here we go again!
The prison photo`s. Iraq again, I have to talk about this stuff, it`s important.
The abuse of prisoners is an outrage. And there`s more to come.
But this happens in most wars. It`s what humans do when they get frustrated,
and have been given the power. Donald Rumsveld was responsible, so he should resign.
He really should. That`s how politics work in a Democracy.
Can`t understand how even Democrats want to keep him.
The Iraqi fighting humans humiliate and abuse their prisoners too. But the notion
that the western soldiers are superior and of higher morals is shot to pieces.
There are animals on both sides. Although dogs would never do this.
I say again: we should get out of Iraq ASAP. Some of you disagree.
And I used to think too that it might be better to stay,
to prevent a civil war and to help the country adopt democracy.
But I`ve changed my position.
I believe now that there is no way we can help the people of Iraq.
In fact the situation is only getting worse.
Saddam was not just a cruel dictator, he also served as the lid on the jar.
With him gone, all the demons are free in Iraq. Not even the UN can fix that now.
We must get out.

Here`s another shot from last weekend. I`m a river dog, I love the river.
Have a fine week everybody, and let me know what you think.

But you are a dog. Humans are complicated. I wish you can really see both sides. I love GWB eventhough we go in harms way all the time and away from our families. I dont like going to Balad but, If I must...then, I will...

You`re right about Saddam having kept the lid on the jar. The same thing happened in Bosnia, other places. Remove the tyrant & the masses revert to age-old payback, debts to settle. If the U.S. pulls out of Iraq, it`ll be a horrible mess...which it already is. Tribes will sort out who has the power, like they`ve always done. They`ll kill & enslave their opponents, like they`ve always done. We won`t get their oil. Oh boo-hoo! Bad business gamble. Rumsfeld should, but won`t resign. I look at it like pulling a loose thread on a sweater; yank him out, then watch the whole thing unravel. I also compare BushCo to the lesser calamity of Enron (his former friends) their misdeeds and
scandal pulled them down. Bush is doing the same thing on a more colossal scale. My .02 cents Joop, `mark` my words

Oh how I wish the U.S. would get out of Iraq, moreover I wish we`d never gone there, moreover I wish the people who decided we should interfere had never stolen office... and I pray those people are voted out of power in November.

Joop, you`re a fine-lookin` young lad! And tell your human that I agree. Not even ANIMALS would do that sort of thing to each other. Only humans. Very SICK, horrible, frustrated, sad humans. Rumsfeld must be let go. And we must leave Iraq. And Bush must NOT get reelected this year. I`m not a religious person, but I think I need to pray more... :-)Take care, J&H!! Hugs and cookies from way over here!

My human says to much power and not enough education, along with the idea "i`m only following orders" is a terrifying combination. In the US we really don`t live in a democracy, but rather in a republic. For all our talk of being "of the people" only a few elected officals make the laws. I agree, Rumsfeld should resign and we should get out. If we want to keep peace, we need to put the guns down.
You look great by the river, Joop, I believe you are smiling! See you soon, my friend.

You`re absolutely right. The US should get out of Iraq asap. As a matter of fact, it should have never gone there in the first place...

It`s all just so ugly, Joop. I wish I had the answers! As for leaving Iraq, well, I just cannot imagine the consequences, the blood that would spill, and all because of what we did. On the other hand, I never could have imagined what I`ve seen in those photos, either. I could never have imagined much of the cruelty, the depravity that humans manage to come up with, and it seems only more common lately. Maybe I have lived in this world too long. God help those we`re leaving it to!

Here in Brazil everything we see in the news is about Iraq and USA. Indeed is a lost battle already. Iraq is out of control. And besides I`m sure that Iraq doesn`t want our help, from anyone. The trust so much on their God that they even kill humans in the name of this God. Yes, more disgrace is still to come and yet no one will give up. Both sides needs to show to the world their strength and power.... and so the world goes...
I wonder if will be a WW III.... I surely hope not!!
Take care Joop, and I`ll pray for your soldiers there in Iraq to come home safe! au au au,
Nicki.

Hi Joop, always in politics? People have to heal from the inside I think. They should take a look to the dogs for example. They impend, than go their ways or fight but don`t torture the other one. There are rules they follow. Can`t find the right words for such horror ...:-( Hardy & the K-pack

agreed. before this i thought maybe we had an obligation to stay and clean up (at least with u.n. organisation), but it seems we`ve just been making more and more mess each day we stay. people hate the "cotw" more than ever in iraq. imagine if it were all reversed in your own country. imagine the respect the iraqi soldiers will have for the geneva conventions now.

I just hate to leave the people of Iraq to the mercy of the masses. I still think a coalition force -- a TRUE coalition force -- with a real end strategy is the way to go. I just shudder to think of how many people will die if Iraq is left alone to sort itself out. Defeat Bush ... again.

Hello Joop! You look good with the little curl at your neck or does the wind play a little with your fur? From the official German point of view it is difficult now to give a statement because one of the very few good deeds our Chancellor did was not to take part in this war and not to interfere in this socalled time of peace. Let me prepare the salad, clear up my head and think of my own private position.

I am very sad for the Iraqi people...indeed Saddam kept things under control using perhaps the only way that will work in that country. Democracy is such a joke for Iraq...we should never have gone there in the first place, but gwb is too damn stupid to think anything through and listened to the neocons and their "vision" for the mideast starting with Iraq. Ideologues with no practical plans for how to do it. And now the horrors continue...the poor Iraqis, they must feel so hopeless, so angry, so sad. gwb started this horror and has no idea what to do now. Unfortunately, their fate is in his hands. Can you imagine!!!!!!!
Look at you in this picture, Joop, serious and thinking...deep thoughts. You are so intelligent. And you are very fortunate...your fate is in your very kind human`s hands.

Joop, you are not only wiser than most politcians, you're better looking, too.

I wish i was a dog, when i see and read the bad thing we humans do to each other i feel so ashamed, the blame lies with the two power mongers who sent the troops there in the first place Blair and Bush, the torture is what happens when our troops are forced to decide between what they know is right and their orders.
Michael Todd Thorpe10-May-2004 06:48
I'll vote for you, Joop!
Adalberto Tiburzi10-May-2004 05:50
Not only Rumsfeld, but also GWB should resign.

As I pull my head out of the sand, trying to NOT hear about this abuse....I find it amazing to see that I find a kindred spirit in you, Joop, a dog.

Please run for President of the USA?! I'll run your campagne.
