A Week in Tahiti

In 1987 we stopped in Tahiti on our way home after our two-year posting to Canberra. Needless to say, it was quite a change from Australia and a pleasant interlude before facing life in Washington, DC.

We spent our honeymoon in Tahiti. A few days at the Bali Hai Resort (when it was really "something" with the Bali Hai Boys) on Moorea & the rest of the two weeks at the Tahara'a InterContinental Hotel on the main island. So, I really look forward to this gallery. We were too busy being newlyweds for me to really do much photography. And what photos I do have are in storage.

We had planned to go back for our anniversary in 2020, but you know how 2020 went for us all.... Plus, Tahiti has changed so much. Too much change has happened over the years to ever recapture the South Pacific Shan·gri-La we experienced so long ago. Frankly, after reading about today's Tahiti, I NOW have no longer have a desire to ever return. It would probably ruin the memories of a paradise that no longer exists as we experienced it. You were there after we were. Tahiti was absolutely magical when we honeymooned. My fondest memory was the black sand beach next to the Tahara'a. I look forward to your photos of that. It was so secluded and so beautiful.
