King of the road in Fairfax

We were leaving a large shopping mall in Fairfax, Virginia, when we saw these two geese crossing a street. Although they were using the crosswalk, I was afraid the oncoming traffic in both directions wouldn’t see them, but they got to the other side unharmed. However, they then proceeded to march down the middle of another street, which luckily wasn’t busy.

They appear unconcerned and going about their daily business. Perhaps wondering at the human propensity for covering up earth with hardtop. :-)

That's pretty common here, and I agree with Raymond.

The new urban immigrants haven't mastered the jizz of the neighbourhood yet.

They sometime seem to takeover a neighborhood, Canada geese are quite busy around my apartment area also.

As always, they have the right of way whether on the highway or pedestrian walkway.
Nice moving point of view.

I always worry when I see them that they will be hit either accidentally or purposely. They do act like they own the road. V

They do have wings but always seem to prefer walking across the road.

We have to remember that humans have invaded migration routes and wildlife territories of local wildlife where they once were free from human harm. Nice to hear that they made it across.

They are braving the traffic! I know not everyone likes Canada Geese, but I do. Always a welcome sign of spring when we hear their calls for the first time months. V

A bit of a curse in English Bay in Vancouver, BC. They eat non-stop and the other end also works non-stop, like cigarettes! A real mess.
