Queenie makes an almost full recovery!

Queenie used to love going to the park with Tim on the weekends to visit Mary, the “cookie lady,” and get some treats. Two or three months ago, though, she was attacked by a pit bull mix named Charlotte who was off-leash and who had Queenie down on the ground by the neck. Luckily, Queenie wasn’t injured, but the incident made her afraid to go anywhere near “the pit,” where Mary and her admirers always congregate.

Yesterday, however, she got her courage up and patiently (if a bit tentatively) waited her turn for a handout from Mary. Charlotte wasn’t at the park and in fact has been banned by Mary from coming anywhere near her and the dogs she feeds every day. We think this is why Mary tries to be on the street when Queenie and Andrew take a walk every morning – she feels bad that the attack took place right in front of her and is trying to make it up to Queenie.

Treats can overcome most things...

LOL. I see that one of the dog owners is a Chiefs fan.

Good thing Queen wasn't a smaller dog when the pit bull got her down, or else the incident could have been more than just a scare. Far too many people own untrained, aggressive Pits. Mary is a nice lady to feed these dogs every day. It gives them something to look forward to on their walks. Queenie seems very relaxed when treats are involved.

That's sad a pit mix off lease and poor Queenie on the receiving end. I'm glad she is OK.

What a horrible experience for everyone but especially Queenie. I'm amazed the pit bull is allowed to be without a muzzle when in public.

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm glad she has overcome her fear. What happened to the pit?

Oh, poor Queenie. But I am glad she is OK and is starting to feel safe about approaching for treats again, even if tentatively at first. We have a "Mary" at our dog park and while 99% of he dogs are well behaved, occasionally there is a bit of a standoff, though never to the extent that Queenie endured. V

Didn't know she was attacked! Poor Queenie, I'd be afraid too if I was her" Glad you guys took control of the situation and banned the aggressive one. Look at those guys, they all know what's coming their way :)))

A troubling incident with a happy ending fortunately. Good to see Queenie back in line for treats!
