Another casualty…

…from our 60 mph winds last week. This tree was enormous, far larger than the other one that had broken off in the wind (previous picture). It was also located in front of a charter school. Thank goodness nobody was around when it happened.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.

Looks like the tree was old or sick or both. So glad no one got hurt.

Very sad to see these big street trees die; the winds at that speed can do serious damage, but the tree looks like it might have been hollowed out from the inside, so not as strong as it might be. V

This tree already had some hidden problems looking at your excellent image.
Glad no one was injured when this wind did the job on the tree.
Nice sharp image.

This tree looks hollowed out so lucky it didn't do any damage.
bill friedlander05-May-2021 15:02
Lucky it fell where it did to minimize the damage. V

Sad, but that tree was on borrowed time, with all that rot it was coming down sooner or later!

Another near miss. So lucky.

Wow, the winds must have been really strong... V

The tree seemed vulnerable with its gnawed trunk, in its cases strong winds are ruthless...V.
John Hamers05-May-2021 09:16
The tree already seemed to be in a bad shape...glad no one was hurt. V!

Storms do a lot of damage, fortunately nobody was around and hurt! V

Fortunately, there was no one under it, yesterday there was also a storm in the Netherlands where several trees went over.
Gill Kopy05-May-2021 04:04
Looks like the tree was rotten at the base !! Glad no one was hurt. !
joseantonio05-May-2021 03:42
really strong winds to have broken that tree.V.
Dennis Hoyne05-May-2021 03:33
By the look of that hallow trunk this tree had some issues to begin with.
Nirvan Hope05-May-2021 03:19
From the look of the trunk it looks like it has aged out. 60 mph winds - that's apocalyptic!
Long Bach Nguyen05-May-2021 01:58
wow that was a strong storm to knock down trees
Julie Oldfield05-May-2021 01:10
The storm sounds frightening.

windstorms do take a toll, especially on apparently vulnerable trees...yes, fortunate that did not land on someone from the school.
Don Mottershead05-May-2021 00:02
Very dangerous. It appears to be an older tree with a hollow trunk.
