An annual ritual in the District of Columbia that I find fascinating – the city vacuums up leaves in all the neighborhoods after workers blow and sweep them into the street, then a composter devours them. They had originally canceled the cleanup this year, much to everyone's dismay, but then reinstated it, reportedly due to the need for employment opportunities.
