Leaf vacuuming day

An annual ritual in the District of Columbia that I find fascinating – the city vacuums up leaves in all the neighborhoods after workers blow and sweep them into the street, then a composter devours them. They had originally canceled the cleanup this year, much to everyone's dismay, but then reinstated it, reportedly due to the need for employment opportunities.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.

The late fall light on the sidewalk adds a certain ambiance to this yearly rite,

What a great idea! Vancouver should adopt this technique. We have so many trees here and each homeowner has to rake it all themselves, bag them and put it out for collection, it sucks!:0) V

Sure beats hand raking. Nice capture of this working scene.

After this long covid restricted life I need them to come do my house! Just kidding as cleanup has become a "something to do".

it is nice to see that they take everything away, it will be clean, but that also has its disadvantages for nature, especially for the insects that are so important to our food, this also partly explains the deterioration of it, but this is a nice image Helen BV

There is always a job that needs to be done. I always like to see people doing stuff in the photos.

the scale of the job must be challenging...good toremove them for the sake of storm drains, and make compost too..a fine catch of workers and colourful truck..
