National Capitol Columns at the Arboretum

Before we went to the Franciscan Monastery to look for butterflies, we stopped at the National Arboretum, also in Northeast DC. I have never seen so many cars there, even during their annual azalea display, which people couldn’t enjoy this year due to the pandemic. We walked around for a while and saw exactly one bird, a few skippers and the famous National Capitol Columns, 22 Corinthian columns that were a part of the US Capitol from 1828 to 1958, when they were replaced and moved to the Arboretum.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

Great perspective and framing of these lovely columns. I like that you included the people that show how large they are. V.

That is so cool and very well photographed. I had no idea these existed. I love archaeological sights and even places like this that look the part. ~BV~

So neat that they were salvaged and relocated to make this monument.

reminds of ruins in far off lands, such as El Ashmunein in Egypt...still, it is a lot greener here, and a pleasing feature to see..
