The impossible-to-photograph house (1)

Built around 1887 at 506 East Capitol St. NE, the Tulloch house mixes elements from the Queen Anne and the Richardsonian styles. Daniel Chester French, sculptor of the monumental statue of Abraham Lincoln in the Lincoln Memorial, is said to have had his studio in the 4th floor loft.

Many of the houses on this walking tour were difficult to photograph, but this one was the absolute worst. Due to a now-gigantic tree in the front yard, there was no way to even see the entire house, let alone photograph it. I finally had to settle for this shot – after returning for another try -- from the adjacent property.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

It looks like an impressive house hiding behind that impressive tree!

The flip side is that it is a very easy to photograph tree. ;)
Actually a very nice photo with all these elements filling the frame. V

A lovely photograph despite the difficulty.

What we cam see of the window looks impressive and I'm sure the
tree provides welcome shade. V

Definitely a challenge and I'm guessing cutting down the tree is not an option.

perhaps the owners value their privacy, and their measures are working well...interesting tie-in with the sculptor..

I those little squares at the top of the windows are glass I sure wouldn't want to have to clean them...and I suspect it would be pretty darned hard to get to their outsides!

I thing you did decent image the important architecture is visible and it is impressive.
The balcony on the second floor is beautiful maybe a little pruning of the tree and a beautiful view
would be had.
A nice sharp image Helen.
