An old picture of the dome on the basilica; I didn’t have time for exterior shots on our last visit. This is the end of the gallery until we go back, which I’m sure we’ll do. Thanks for all the interest in the gallery! I must say I was impressed at how beautiful the basilica has become, and so surprised to find such a magnificent church like this in the States.

The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is the largest Catholic church in the United States and in North America and the tallest habitable building in Washington, D.C. The foundation stone was laid in 1920, and the mosaic adornment of final dome was completed in 2017.
