Rich in nature and admirers

The gardens are more popular than I ever would have expected, and this was taken after their annual lotus festival, which draws thousands of people.

*****

I had planned to end this gallery, but we went back to the 700-acre Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens in Washington, D.C., to take another stab at photographing one of the resident herons. Along the way to the marsh we saw lots of other things, including more lotuses, water lilies and dragonflies.
