Fearless vulture

This vulture clearly wasn’t too bothered by people as he was sitting just feet from one of the observation platforms overlooking the Potomac River. We tried to take some of a vulture couple across the river, but I’m undecided about posting them as I’d have preferred them to have been a bit better. One of my main complaints about this Sony is that it’s unreliable, particularly for bird shots.

Interesting look at a bird that I usually only see from afar. He seems to have a shawl-like covering of feathers over the wings unlike other birds. Also his feathers do not appear overall to be in very good condition as though he is not well, which would not be surprising given his diet. V
