Former funeral home (1896), now a private residence

I’ve been told by two people that this house used to be Mattingly Funeral Home, although I’ve been unable to verify it, and that its parking lot was next door, where a condominium now stands. A recent description for sale failed to mention the funeral home, but perhaps that wouldn’t have been a very good selling point.

Built in 1896, the main building measures 5,673 square feet, sold for $2,340,000 in December 2017 and is currently undergoing renovation. There is a 2,000 square foot carriage house in the rear.

The real estate is outrageously expensive. I am not sure I would want to live in an old funeral home. I like the composition. V

Interesting that the side of this building is unfinished too - and the front is so attractive. I wonder if ghosts abound :) Super shot V
