Carbery School (1887) condo conversion

The Carberry School, located in Northeast Washington, was built c. 1887 by the Office of the Building Inspector. It stopped functioning as a school in 1949, when it was turned into a warehouse. Robert Herrera purchased the property in the 1980s and converted it into 23 condo units. According to a resident who commented on an old picture of the building, they have put much effort into the “verdant and spacious grounds,” and indeed they did look nice.

Less than an hour and a half after this picture was taken, it was snowing. Go figure.
