This was the float from Spirit Mountain Casino, located between Portland and the Oregon coast, and sponsored by the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde. It was titled “Have Some Real Fun” and depicts a mother coyote guarding her cubs and the “natural beauty and wonder of Oregon’s wildlife in their natural habitat.”
We had missed this float in the parade as we arrived a bit late but saw it on TV that evening. It was gorgeous, with magnificent animals and the cub’s paw moving up and down (!), so we went the next day to where they were parked for public view. It won the Queen’s Award for the most outstanding non-animated float in the parade. And it surely deserved it.
