Palace of exile

The other day we were driving around southern Riyadh, not far from the DQ, to see what was there. I remembered having seen a very affluent neighborhood one evening a while ago and also wanted to revisit it in daylight. This will just be a series of captures of the houses there, many of which are still under construction. Maybe I’ll make a small gallery for the afternoon, but don’t have time to now and not sure I have enough decent pictures to make one anyway!

This is the palace (a real one!) where Yemen’s exiled president, Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, is living. For obvious reasons, I could only get a long-distance shot of the complex (and into the sun, unfortunately).

The sheer scale of the houses here is just amazing, posted earlier:

Wow, some place to be exiled! He must have left with all the banks' reserves! So many other despots found refuge there, Idi Amin etc.

Good to see that the former Yemen prez is suffering in comfort! These are excellent architectural studies. Voted.

Hiding in plain sight. No wonder there are few house numbers.
