Sahara Desert, camel train

Our Sahara Desert experience included a ride on a camel through the sand dunes to watch the sunset, and spending the night in a Berber tent, with food and drink served along with some musical entertainment. I greatly enjoyed it, except for the sandstorm we encountered while sitting atop a dune, but it isn’t something I feel a need to do again!

Taken from the rooftop terrace of the hotel. They had a large number of camels as it seemed to be “the” place to go for a desert experience. I should mention here (and no doubt will elsewhere) that the sand really appeared to be different colors depending on the sun and the direction you were looking, ranging from brown to gold and from pink to orange.

A friendly staff member at the hotel, posted earlier:

Now this is timeless... it could be yesterday or hundreds of years ago. I find this a truly compelling shot. VV
