Souq, but not the real deal

The Abu Dhabi Central Market is a modern reinterpretation of the traditional souq that used to stand here, which, although attractive, seemed to be lacking the vitality of the real thing. It might have just been the time of day, but there weren’t many people there, and most of them seemed to be foreign tourists, and much of the building was empty.

Composed and exposed perfectly. Great perspective. V

Certainly interesting that most of the folk in this shot seem to be tourists... and also interesting that the women don't need to wear abayas. I am so used to seeing that in your SA shots that it seems startling to see this! V

Looks like a great place for the tourists to shop only without the tradition of a real souq. A well lit image and sharp at this rather high iso. V

I am sure Mandy would be happy with this one :-)

Certainly not the wonderful character of a traditional souq and only tourists as far as I can see. Excellent composition.

Superbe cadrage, ce n'est pas trop un souk, mais plutôt une galerie marchande. V

Tourist traps! Like the local in the chair!
