The innovative architecture in downtown Doha was one of the big attractions of the city for me – it seemed like every building must have been approved for a unique design that would only contribute to the striking skyline because there wasn’t a boring, boxy building among them.
This building is the one pictured below from further away. I thought even the top of it was nicely done with the domes.
I actually had an encounter with the police (or a guard, I didn’t ask who he was) right after I took this picture. It turned out I was standing on the property of some intelligence facility, with a camera (guess I should have paid attention to the signs, and to Tim). He asked to see my pictures, and when he was convinced I wasn’t photographing the facility told me to continue but on the other side of the street, and not to take pictures of the facility. Actually, I did take one of it, unknowingly, much earlier (so he didn’t see it). Since we’re returning to Doha in March, it’s probably best not to post it!
