Old Reykjavík

We waited until our last afternoon in Iceland to see Reykjavík, which was unfortunate since I think it seems like a very nice city. We were staying there with friends, but really used that more as a base to travel around the country. In any case, I have very few pictures of the city that I like, except a few from Harpa, the beautiful performing arts center, where we spent most of our remaining time. I’m posting a few of the others just to give a sense of what it was like.

People filled the parks we saw; tourists were bundled up, while we saw some Icelanders in shorts and T-shirts. It wasn't what I'd call warm, but at least there was no wind for a change. I guess warmth is relative.

Another view of this pleasant city:

Hard to believe this is the same country as the rural scenes - lovely summer shot V

Great shot of the park. Maybe, since we are from Colorado, it did not seem that cold to us. It was quite comfortable except when we were in the rain. This was only one day out of seven days.

What was the temperature? Around here in Western North Carolina, when I'm all bundled up in winter I see parents bringing their kids to restaurants wearing shorts and t-shirts. Some people are just used to colder temps.

Somehow I don't think of trees and flowers and Iceland together. Beautiful garden area and looks like the people are enjoying nice weather. V.
