Sandstorm (3/3)

I have made reference to sandstorms before, but the ones we have experienced so far haven’t been as bad as they reportedly get in the summer (like days of darkness with the sun totally obliterated). However, last night, on our way home to the DQ, suddenly the air was heavy with sand and the wind started blowing, and we couldn’t see very far ahead of us. A major boulevard that was a block away was barely visible. Then, to make matters worse, it started raining. The whole thing was a bit unnerving, but luckily we made it home without incident. I can’t even imagine what it would be like to be out in a serious sandstorm.

The other two images taken on the road:

I would imaging that breathing is difficult at such times. The lead image is very nicely captured. Vote.

That sounds scary. I like the atmosphere, no pun intended, of this one. The technical quality of these images is very impressive given the conditions and shooting through a car windshield. V

Nice captures of the situation, Helen. I've been in Indio, California for the past couple of days and can relate to these scenes. I thought about you yesterday and if what I was experiencing was what it could be like in Saudi Arabia. The unnerving part over here is that people still drive 70+ mph when visibility is poor.
