The streets have names in English and Arabic on the DQ, but absolutely nobody uses them. Your house has a number, and that’s what everybody goes by.
I can’t believe it, but I’m just about out of Saudi pictures for the time being – maybe a few more of Sahraa and a couple more abaya shots (that I haven’t taken yet) and surely a few I have forgotten, but that’s it!
Part of the problem is the restrictions on photography here, although I’ve been able to shoot more than I even imagined would be possible. But also, my “free time” is a limiting factor, with basically one day off a week from work. If we have something else we need to do (like go way out to the base to shop) instead of search for photo ops, then I get next to nothing taken.
Anyway, I’ll start posting them again as soon as I can get out to take something. In the meantime, I guess I should go back to my very unfinished Barcelona, Oslo and Budapest galleries, which makes me sad because I’ve really been enjoying doing the Saudi shots (not that I don’t like Barcelona or Budapest ;-)).
