Under repair

The Washington Monument was severely damaged in a recent earthquake that shook the District of Columbia and is still under repair. I wasn't able to see it at night as Sam did http://www.pbase.com/pegsam/image/152633400 even though I was in Washington for almost a month (!), but even in the daytime it was quite unusual looking with that scaffolding.

I have loads of Washington pictures to still process (or look at, anyway) so am jumping around a bit. I am back in Budapest, though, even if the images posted indicate otherwise!

Looks great with a dress ! I like the goose (or whatever) in the foreground. Is it slightly off vertical - that wouldn't be easy to repair ?

You do continent hop :-) A terrific shot of an imposing structure, even though clad in scaffolding. V

From a distance, the scaffolding adds a mosaic texture. Great capture. V.

Super shot of this shrouded structure, Helen. *V*
Looks like the earthquake knocked in slightly off vertical, (the crane is dead straight up), or are we to call you Eileen? ;o)

Nicely captured, Helen. I wasn't able to capture a shot during the daylight hours and this shot makes me wish I had the time to try that. Nice comp and nicely devoid of flocks tourists.

Certainly an unusual sight with the scaffolding. Nicely composed from this slight off-center vantage point and with the goose in the foreground. "V"
